An eHerkenning credential is always personal. This means that it may only be used by the person in whose name it is registered.
An existing eHerkenning credential cannot therefore be taken over, transferred to another user or registered in someone else’s name.
Does another user need eHerkenning?
That user must apply for their own eHerkenning credential or be invited to register by a Company Administrator.
Does a user no longer need access?
The user’s eHerkenning credential must then be withdrawn or terminated.
Can I take over someone else’s eHerkenning credential?
No. An eHerkenning credential cannot be taken over by another person.
eHerkenning is personal and linked to the user’s verified identity. During registration, the user verifies their identity and is personally authorised to log in on behalf of an organisation.
Under the rules of the Dutch eHerkenning scheme, an eHerkenning credential is strictly personal. Users must therefore never share, take over or use another person’s eHerkenning credential.
More information is available on the official eHerkenning website: What is eHerkenning?
Can I transfer an eHerkenning credential to another user?
No. An existing eHerkenning credential cannot be transferred to another user.
The new user must apply for their own eHerkenning credential.
Can someone else’s eHerkenning credential be registered in my name?
No. An eHerkenning credential registered in someone else’s name cannot be transferred to your name.
You must apply for your own eHerkenning credential.
What should I do if a user no longer needs access?
If a user no longer needs to access services on behalf of your organisation, the eHerkenning subscription can be cancelled through the Digidentity Wallet app.
