Do you want to give an employee or colleague access to eHerkenning for your organisation?
Each person who needs to use eHerkenning must have their own eHerkenning. eHerkenning is personal and is linked to both the user and the organisation they are authorised to act for.
You cannot add another person to an existing eHerkenning account. Instead, the employee must complete their own eHerkenning registration.
How can the employee register?
1. Your organisation does not have a Company Administrator
The employee can start their own eHerkenning registration through the Digidentity website.
2. Your organisation has a Company Administrator
The Company Administrator can invite the employee through the Self Service Portal and assign the required eHerkenning product and authorisations.
⚠ Important: eHerkenning is personal
Every employee must use their own Digidentity account and personally complete their eHerkenning registration and identity verification.
An employer, colleague or Company Administrator cannot complete the registration or identity verification on the employee's behalf.
eHerkenning cannot be shared or transferred to another person. Never share passwords, PINs or access to the Digidentity Wallet.
Option 1: The employee registers for eHerkenning themselves
If your organisation does not have a Company Administrator, the employee can start their own eHerkenning registration through the Digidentity website.
The employee selects the eHerkenning product they need to start the registration. During the registration, they enter the Chamber of Commerce (KVK) number of the organisation they will use eHerkenning for.
Digidentity then checks whether the employee is authorised to request eHerkenning for the organisation.
If approval or additional authorisation is required, the relevant instructions will be shown during the registration.
Option 2: A Company Administrator invites the employee
If your organisation has a Company Administrator, they can invite an employee through the Self Service Portal.
The Company Administrator can select the required eHerkenning product and manage the employee's authorisations for the organisation.
The employee receives an invitation by email and must then personally complete their Digidentity account, eHerkenning registration and identity verification.
Read the complete instructions: As a Company Administrator, how do I invite employees to register?
Does every employee need their own eHerkenning?
Yes. eHerkenning is personal.
Every employee who needs to log in with eHerkenning must have their own Digidentity account and complete their own eHerkenning registration.
An eHerkenning belonging to another employee cannot be shared, transferred or reused.
If several employees need access to the same online service, each employee therefore needs their own eHerkenning with the appropriate authorisation.
Do we need a Company Administrator?
No. A Company Administrator is not required for employees to register for eHerkenning.
Without a Company Administrator, each employee can start their own eHerkenning registration through the Digidentity website.
A Company Administrator is useful if your organisation wants to centrally manage employees, eHerkenning products and authorisations.
If your organisation wants to appoint a Company Administrator, see: Become a Company Administrator.
How do we add several employees?
Every employee needs their own Digidentity account, eHerkenning registration and identity verification.
Without a Company Administrator: each employee starts their own eHerkenning registration separately through the Digidentity website.
With a Company Administrator: the Company Administrator can invite multiple employees and manage their eHerkenning products and authorisations through the Self Service Portal.
Can a Company Administrator use eHerkenning themselves?
A Company Administrator product is used to manage employees, products and authorisations within Digidentity.
The Company Administrator product itself cannot be used to log in to external organisations or online services with eHerkenning.
If a Company Administrator also needs to use eHerkenning, they need their own eHerkenning product.
