An eHerkenning is always personal. This means an eHerkenning may only be used by the person in whose name it is registered.
Because of this, you cannot take over an existing eHerkenning, transfer it to another user, or change it into someone else’s name.
Would you like another user to use eHerkenning?
That user must apply for their own eHerkenning or be invited by a company administrator.
Does a user no longer require access?
Then that user’s eHerkenning subscription should be cancelled. This can be done by the user in the Digidentity Wallet app.
Can I take over someone else’s eHerkenning?
No. An eHerkenning cannot be taken over by another person.
eHerkenning is personal and linked to the identity of the user. During the registration process, the user verified their identity and was personally authorised to log in on behalf of an organisation.
According to the rules of the Dutch eHerkenning framework, eHerkenning is strictly personal. Users are not permitted to share, transfer, or reuse another person’s eHerkenning.
You can read more about this on the official eHerkenning website: What is eHerkenning?
Can I transfer an eHerkenning to another user?
No. An existing eHerkenning cannot be transferred to another user.
The new user must apply for their own eHerkenning or be invited by a Company Administratorwithin the organisation.
Can an eHerkenning be put in my name?
No. An eHerkenning registered in someone else’s name cannot be changed into your name.
You must apply for your own eHerkenning.
What should I do if a user no longer requires access?
If a user no longer requires access on behalf of your organisation, they can cancel their eHerkenning subscription in the Digidentity Wallet app.
A Company Administrator can also manage or revoke the user’s access, roles, or authorisations.
How does a new user gain access?
A new user can gain access in two ways:
- The user applies for a new eHerkenning themselves.
- A Company Administrator invites the user and assigns the required authorisations.
Every user must complete their own registration and identity verification process.
