You can easily request a new authorisation letter via the registration:
- Go to your eHerkenning registration
- Click on ‘here’ under “Need more time to sign the letter?” to request a new authorisation letter
- Download and sign the new authorisation letter
- Submit the signed letter again using the QR code
Important: When you request new letters of authorisation, all previously generated letters within the same registration will automatically become invalid and be replaced. This is a requirement of the eHerkenning trust framework.
As a result, even letters that were previously approved must be signed and submitted again.
Please note: You can only request a new authorisation letter from 5 days before the expiry date.
Validity of Authorisation Letters
An authorisation letter is valid for 14 days. This validity period is mandated by the eHerkenning trust framework and set by the Dutch government. Digidentity is required to follow these rules and cannot change them.
After 14 days, the authorisation letter will automatically expire.
Why do I need to resubmit letters of authorisation that have already been approved?
The eHerkenning trust framework requires that all authorisation letters within a single application remain valid at the same time. For this reason, new authorisation letters must be generated if one or more authorisation letters expire.
As a result, all previously issued authorisation letters become invalid, including those that were already approved. All authorisation letters must then be signed and submitted again.
This can occur, for example, when one of the authorised signatories does not sign and submit their authorisation letter within the 14-day validity period. In that case, authorisation letters that were already approved and submitted on time must also be resubmitted.
This process is a requirement of the eHerkenning trust framework and cannot be changed by Digidentity.
