During the registration of a Digidentity product, you may be asked to verify your identity using your identity document and a face verification.
The identity verification is completed using the Digidentity Wallet app.
Start the identity verification
- Start the registration for your Digidentity product.
- Continue until you are asked to verify your identity.
- Follow the instructions based on whether you are registering on your phone or on a computer.
I am using my phone
The Digidentity Wallet app will open and guide you through the identity verification.
- Follow the instructions to scan or photograph your identity document.
- Complete the face and liveness verification.
- Follow the remaining instructions in the app.

I am using a computer
A QR code will appear on your computer screen. Use your phone to continue the verification.
- Open the Digidentity Wallet app on your phone.
- Select Scan QR code.
- Scan the QR code shown on your computer.
- Follow the instructions in the app.

Tips for a successful identity verification
Follow these guidelines when submitting your identity document and completing the face verification.
Identity document
- Use a valid passport, identity card or accepted driving licence.
- Non-Dutch driving licences cannot be used for identity verification.
- Use the original identity document, not a scan, copy or photo of the document.
- Make sure the entire document is visible and clearly readable.
- Avoid glare, reflections or anything covering information on the document.
Face verification
- Make sure you are in a well-lit environment.
- Avoid bright light directly behind you.
- Hold your phone at eye level.
- Move your head when instructed, rather than moving your phone.
- Hold the phone yourself during the verification.
- Make sure no other people are visible during the face verification.
- Follow the instructions on screen calmly.
- Do not wear sunglasses, face coverings or other items that obscure your face.
- If you wear glasses, do not put them on or take them off during the verification attempt.
Important
The identity document and face verification must belong to the person completing the registration.
What happens after the verification?
Your identity information will be processed after it has been submitted. This usually takes a few minutes.
Once the verification has been completed successfully, you can continue with your product registration.
In some cases, an additional manual review may be required.
Identity verification failed?
If your identity verification is unsuccessful, try again and carefully follow the instructions shown in the Digidentity Wallet app.
Make sure your identity document is valid, clearly visible and that the face verification is completed by the person whose identity document is being used.
