To protect your account and comply with legal requirements, Digidentity must confirm that you are the real person using the account.
Identity verification ensures that only you can access products, sign documents, or act on behalf of an organisation.
What verification does
When you verify your identity, we check:
- That your identity document is genuine
- That the document belongs to you
- That you are physically present (liveness check)
Depending on the product, we also verify whether you are authorised to purchase a product on behalf of your organisation. For more information, see:
After successful verification, your account receives a higher trust level.
This allows you to securely log in and use products that require strong authentication
Why this is necessary
All products connected to Digidentity require a high level of certainty about who is using them.
This is required for security and legal reasons, for example:
- Accessing government portals (such as eHerkenning services)
- Signing official or legal documents
- Acting on behalf of an organisation
- Preventing identity fraud and misuse
Without identity verification, these products cannot safely grant access.
Is this mandatory?
Yes.
If the product you are using requires verified identity, you must complete verification before you can continue.
This protects both you and the organisation you are accessing.
