General information and requirements
To request a chain authorisation (ketenmachtiging) as an intermediary to log in on behalf of a customer, you must complete the following steps.
- First, you must have completed at least eHerkenning level 3 Complete.
- Please note: eHerkenning level 3 Belastingdienst is not sufficient.
- You must be an eHerkenning company administrator for your organisation. Are you not an administrator yet? Click here for more information.
Once you have become the company administrator for your organisation, you can request a chain authorisation. After you have requested and approved it, you must assign the chain authorisation to an employee or to yourself. The process is described step by step.
Requesting a chain authorisation costs €24.20 including VAT.
A chain authorisation can only be created if both you as intermediary and your customer have eHerkenning and have completed the required steps for the chain authorisation.
Does your customer not have eHerkenning? You may be able to request a standard authorisation instead. See more information here: Adding an authorisation on behalf of a customer without eHerkenning.
Step 1. Becoming a company administrator
Before you can become a company administrator, you must first register at least eHerkenning level 3 Complete.
Note: eHerkenning level 3 Belastingdienst is not sufficient.
You can find more information about eHerkenning and how to register here: Start eHerkenning registration
Once you have completed your eHerkenning registration, you can request the company administrator status. Follow these steps:
- Log in at my.digidentity.eu
- Click on the ‘Companies’ tab
- Click on the company
- Click on 'Request to become company administrator'
Our system checks which persons within your organisation are authorised signatories and creates one or more company administrator declarations. These letters must be submitted by the authorised signatory mentioned on the letter. Once approved, you will gain access to the Self Service Portal.
Step 2. Requesting a chain authorisation
In the Self Service Portal, follow the steps below to request the chain authorisation and assign the correct services:
- Log in on your PC at selfservice.digidentity.eu
- Click on your own company
- Click on ‘Chain authorisations’
- Click on 'Request new chain authorisation'
- Click on 'Request new authorisation'
- Enter the Chamber of Commerce (KVK) number of your customer's company
- Check the details. If correct, click 'Confirm and continue'
- Select the services for which you want to be authorised:
- If you want to select all services, click 'All services'
- If you want to make a selection, click the checkboxes for the desired services
- Click 'Save'
- Click 'Approve'
The authorisation has now been created. However, you are not done yet! The authorisation must be assigned to an employee. Even if you want to use the authorisation yourself.
Step 3. Assigning the authorisation to an employee
The authorisation must be assigned to an employee (or yourself) within the organisation. Follow these steps:
- Log in on your PC at selfservice.digidentity.eu
- Click on your own company
- Click on the ‘Users’ tab
- Click on the desired user. If you need the chain authorisation yourself, click your own name
- Click 'Create a chain authorisation'
- Under ‘Catalogue’, select eHerkenning + [Name of main company]
Important: Do not select 'Limit authorisation to specific branches'. This causes issues on many portals.
- Click 'Create an authorisation'
- Click only on 'Authorise'
- Click 'Approve'
- The authorisation has now been assigned
Your part of the chain authorisation process is now complete. Please note that the chain authorisation only becomes functional once your customer has completed their side of the process. You can only log in once the selected services match. Read more: Logging in with a chain authorisation.
I have completed all steps, but I cannot log in
- Check whether you have completed step 3. Even if you are the administrator and want to log in yourself, you must first assign the authorisation to yourself.
- If both you and your customer have completed the chain authorisation steps, the selected services may not match. Contact your customer to confirm. Suppliers do not exchange information.
- If both you and your customer use eHerkenning from Digidentity, we can check whether the services match correctly. Contact the Service Desk.
