Have you received an email notifying you that your certificate is about to expire?
The certificate/smartcard in your e-mail refers to the authenticator (5-digit PIN) that is created in the Digidentity app when you create an account. A Digidentity authenticator has a set expiry date and must be renewed periodically for security purposes. If you do not renew the authenticator, then you will no longer be able to log in to the Digidentity Wallet app in order to access the service(s) you had registered for.
You will be notified via email when your authenticator is due to expire. You should be sent emails on days 30, 14, 7, 2 and 1 prior to your certificate expiring.
Steps to renew your certificate
- Open the Digidentity Wallet app
-
The app will immediately take you to the “Account update”
screen
- If you are not immediately seeing the “Account update” page, it’s likely that you have lost access to the original app linked to your certificate. This happens when you have purchased a new phone, or when you have deleted the app in the past. If this is the case, please click the following link. How do i recover my certificate or 5-digit pin?
- Select “Start update” and enter your 5-digit PIN code
- Your account will now update, and then you will be prompted to re-enter your 5-digit PIN code for confirmation
- You will then see the “PIN code updated” screen. Please select “Continue”
- Your certificate is now renewed, and you can continue logging in as normal
