The Digidentity Wallet app is your authentication method. It securely stores your certificate (previously called smartcard) and is required to use your Digidentity products.
If you cannot access the Wallet app, you must perform account recovery to regain access.
This applies if:
- You entered your PIN incorrectly too many times (the app is blocked)
- You forgot your PIN
- You have a new phone
- You removed the app
- Your certificate (smart card) has expired
Important: Make sure you use the same email address that was originally used to request your Digidentity products. Recovery applies only to the specific email address used during login.
Restoring access to your Digidentity Wallet is free of charge. During this process, you will verify your identity again.
How to restore access your Digidentity Wallet using an Android device
Preparation
- Install the Digidentity Wallet app via the App Store or Google Play Store
- On your computer, go to my.digidentity.eu
- Enter the email address of your account
- Click Continue
- Log in with your password if prompted
You will now see the available two-factor authentication methods.
Complete recovery
- Click the three dots next to the certificate you want to restore
- Click Restore
- Confirm twice by clicking Restore
- You will be redirected to the Services tab
- Click Continue for your product
- Complete the registration process and create a new certificate. You will need to upload an original identity document and complete a selfie check.
Please note: Your products will be temporarily unavailable until recovery is completed.
How to restore access to your Digidentity Wallet on an iPhone
Restoring access on an iPhone is straightforward. You will verify your identity again using the Digidentity Wallet app. This process is free of charge.
Instructions
- Install the Digidentity Wallet app and tap Log in
- Enter your email address (no alias) and the verification code
- Click Start recovery and select Recover on this device
- Upload an original identity document and follow the steps (including NFC if applicable)
- Take a selfie and set a new 5-digit PIN
- You have completed recovery. Your products are immediately available.
Please note: Recovering your certificate on a new device will automatically deactivate it on other devices.
