A chain authorisation allows your organisation to log in on behalf of another organisation using eHerkenning.
To use a chain authorisation, both your organisation and your customer must complete their part of the process.
Important
A chain authorisation only becomes active once both organisations have completed their part of the process.
If your customer has not yet completed their part, you will not be able to log in using the chain authorisation.
Before you begin
- You must be a Company Administrator.
- Your organisation must have a valid Chamber of Commerce (KvK) registration.
- Requesting a chain authorisation costs €20 excluding VAT.
- After approval, the chain authorisation must be assigned to yourself or an employee.
Step 1. Become a Company Administrator
Before you can request a chain authorisation, you must first become a Company Administrator.
Digidentity offers two Company Administrator products. Click on the product name below to start the registration
Company Administrator Level 3
A free product that allows you to manage authorisations up to and including eHerkenning Level 3.
Company Administrator Level 4
A paid product that allows you to manage authorisations up to and including eHerkenning Level 4.
You do not need an eHerkenning product to become a Company Administrator.
Please note
If you want to personally log in on behalf of another organisation using a chain authorisation, you must also have eHerkenning Level 3 Complete or higher.
A Company Administrator product only provides administrative permissions within Digidentity and cannot be used to log in to service providers.
- Register for Company Administrator Level 3 or Company Administrator Level 4.
- Complete the required verification and authorisation steps.
Step 2. Request a chain authorisation
- Sign in to the Self Service Portal.
- Select your organisation.
- Click Chain Authorisations.
- Click Request new authorisation.
- Enter your customer's Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number.
- Select your customer's identity provider.
- Select the services you wish to access.
- Click Save and then Approve.
The chain authorisation has now been requested.
Step 3. Assign the chain authorisation to yourself or employees
Common mistake
Requesting a chain authorisation is not enough.
You must also assign the received chain authorisation to yourself or your employees. Only then will it become available during login.
- Open Chain Authorisations.
- Click Show all under Received authorisations.
- Click Manage users.
- Click Add users.
- Add yourself or the employee who should receive the authorisation.
- Click Confirm and approve.
The chain authorisation has now been assigned.
I have completed all steps but cannot log in
- Make sure you completed Step 3 and assigned the chain authorisation to yourself or an employee.
- Verify that your customer has completed their part of the process.
- Check that both organisations selected the same services.
- Verify that the correct Chamber of Commerce (KvK) numbers were used.
- Make sure you have eHerkenning Level 3 Complete or higher.
Do both organisations use Digidentity for eHerkenning? If so, please contact our Service Desk so we can verify that the correct services have been activated.
