Are you listed as a director in the Chamber of Commerce but shown as an ‘employee’ in Digidentity? This is expected behaviour.
Within Digidentity, we work with two roles: employee and administrator.
Important: Your role in Digidentity is not determined by the Chamber of Commerce (KvK), but by the permissions you have within our platform.
Why am I registered as an ‘employee’ while I am a director?
Within Digidentity, you are linked to an organisation based on authorisations (for example for eHerkenning). These determine what you are allowed to do on behalf of an organisation.
Your role according to the Chamber of Commerce (such as director or owner) is not automatically applied within Digidentity.
Therefore, every user starts as an employee by default.
What is an ‘employee’?
An employee:
- Can use a product (such as eHerkenning) to act on behalf of the organisation
- Operates based on assigned authorisations
- Cannot manage users or permissions
This is the default role for all users.
What is a ‘company administrator’?
A company administrator has additional permissions and can:
- Manage users within the organisation
- Assign or modify authorisations
- Manage subscriptions and products
- Invite new users
This is the role for the person responsible for managing access within the organisation.
How do I become an administrator?
You can request to become a company administrator via your Digidentity account:
- Log in via my.digidentity.eu
- Go to Companies
- Select your organisation
- Go to Org and me
- Click on Become company administrator
In some cases, your request must be approved or you may be required to provide documentation.
Please note: you need at least eHerkenning level 3 Complete for this.
What happens after I request administrator access?
When you submit your request, we verify the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) details again.
If you are not (individually) authorised according to the KvK, a letter of authorisation will be generated automatically.
This must be signed by a legally authorised representative as listed in the KvK.
Why is this not automatically based on the KvK?
We check KvK data during applications, but not continuously. Additionally, we do not always have visibility into someone’s internal role within an organisation.
For this reason, roles within Digidentity are not automatically adjusted based on the KvK or internal company roles, but are managed through roles and authorisations within the platform.
This ensures the system remains secure and flexible, even when your role changes.
