To transfer your smart card to a new device, you will need access to the original smart card on your old device. If you have lost access to the old smart card, please see the following page instead: How I recover my smart card or pin?
The most simple way to complete your smart card transfer is to log into our web page on a computer or laptop using the steps below:
Logging in on a computer
- On your computer, go to https://my.digidentity.eu/
- Open the Digidentity Wallet app on your old device and scan the QR code to log in
- In the 'Settings' section, select 'Change two-factor authentication'
- In the ‘Smart cards in your app’ box, select ‘Transfer to new device’
- You will then be asked if you have access to the device that your existing smart card is set up on, if you do still have access to this device, select 'Continue with existing'
- A QR code will now be shown on the screen. Open the Digidentity Wallet app on your new device and scan the code to create your new smart card
- Enter a 5-digit pin to secure your smart card, then repeat the pin to confirm
- Now that your new smart card has been set up, a notification will be sent to your old device so the previous smart card can be deleted. Enter the old smart card's pin to confirm
Logging in on a mobile device (smartphone or tablet)
It is also possible to complete your transfer purely on a mobile device if necessary. Please find steps to help you transfer below:
- On your old device, go to https://my.digidentity.eu/
- Tap 'Open app' to log in, then return to your web browser
- In the 'Settings' section, select 'Change two-factor authentication'
- In the ‘Smart cards in your app’ box, select ‘Transfer to new device’
- You will then be asked if you have access to the device that your existing smart card is set up on, if you do still have access to this device, select 'Continue with existing'.
- On the next page, do not select 'Open with the app'. Instead, open your browser settings and select to view the page in Desktop mode.
- You should now see a QR code on the page. Open the Digidentity Wallet app on your new device and scan the code to create your new smart card
- Enter a 5-digit pin to secure your smart card, then repeat the pin to confirm
- Now that your new smart card has been set up, a notification will be sent to your old device so the previous smart card can be deleted. Enter the old smart card's pin to confirm
