To request or renew a PKIo SBR certificate, you need an authorisation. This authorisation is issued during the registration of the Digidentity Certificate Manager product.
An authorisation is valid for 5 years. In our system, this authorisation is listed as “Digidentity Self Service Portal level 4”.
Important: the authorisation is completely separate from your actual PKIo SBR certificate. When your certificate is about to expire, you will receive a different notification. These messages refer to different parts of your registration.
Digidentity Self Service Portal level 4 – Renewing your authorisation

Company Administrator
Please note the following if your organisation has an administrator:
- Are you the administrator yourself? Then you cannot approve your own authorisation. You will see a message stating that your request is “pending approval by the organisation administrator”.
At the bottom of the page, select ‘Download letters’ to generate a new letter package. - If the administrator cannot approve the authorisation, this may be due to an insufficient level of assurance.
The Digidentity Certificate Manager product requires level 4, while eHerkenning level 3 only provides level 3.
In this case, the applicant must click ‘Download letters’ during registration and proceed with the authorisation letters.
Billing
There are no costs for the Digidentity Certificate Manager product or for renewing the Digidentity Self Service Portal level 4 authorisation.
