A PKIoverheid SBR certificate, also known as a Digipoort certificate, is mainly used for secure communication with organisations such as the Dutch Tax Authorities via SBR/Digipoort.
Before you can request an SBR certificate, you must first register for Digidentity Certificate Manager.
Follow these steps:
- Start the registration for Digidentity Certificate Manager .
- Complete the full product registration.
- Once completed, log in to the Self Service Portal .
- Select your organisation.
- Select Certificates.
- Select Request new certificate.
- Select the required PKIoverheid SBR certificate.
Register for Digidentity Certificate Manager
During the registration, Digidentity will verify your identity, organisation and authorisation to act on behalf of the organisation.
If additional authorisation is required, authorisation letters will automatically be generated. These letters must be signed and submitted according to the instructions provided on the letter.

Once your Certificate Manager registration has been fully completed, you can request an SBR certificate through the Self Service Portal.
Request and download your SBR certificate
After selecting the required certificate, the system will perform the necessary automated checks.
Once these checks have been completed successfully, you can confirm the request and generate the certificate.
When saving the certificate, we recommend selecting the .pfx file type and creating a password to protect the certificate.
Important
You can download the certificate only once. Make sure you securely store both the certificate and its password.
Do not close your browser or end the session before the certificate has been fully downloaded. You cannot return later to download the same certificate again.
If you lose the certificate or its password, you will need to request a new certificate.
Install the certificate
Once downloaded, you can install the certificate in your tax, accounting or other software.
Digidentity does not provide support for installing or configuring PKIoverheid certificates in third-party software. If you experience problems with the installation, please contact your software provider.
Validity and expiry dates
The Digidentity Certificate Manager registration and the PKIoverheid certificate are separate components and may have different expiry dates. You will receive separate notifications for each.
