You can electronically sign any document in PDF format.
However, there are a few exceptions:
- If your document has already been signed with a third-party signing application (such as DocuSign).
- If your document is an interactive form (for example a PDF file with drop-down menus).
- If a physical key or hardware token is required. As Digidentity validates electronic signatures via the Digidentity Wallet app, there is no need for a specific piece of additional hardware.
- If a certificate is requested for validation purposes. When using eSignature, certificates can only be viewed on the PDF document itself. To view the certificate, open the document with a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader and open the signature panel. There you can view the certificate details, including the level of the certificate and its status (for example to see if it has been revoked or invalidated).
