Renew and download your certificate
If your Automotive Authentication certificate is about to expire, or has already expired, you can renew it.
Please note: the renewed certificate and associated billing will start once the renewal process has been completed.
- Go to the Digidentity Self Service Portal on your computer.
- Sign in by scanning the QR code on screen using the Digidentity app and entering your PIN.
- Select the company for which you want to renew the Automotive Authentication certificate.
- Click Certificates in the left-hand menu.
- Select the certificate you want to renew.
- Click Renew.
- Click Next.
- You will receive a verification code by email at the email address linked to your Digidentity account. Enter the code and click Confirm.
Warning
During the renewal process, you may automatically receive an email stating 'Your certificate request has been rejected'.
This is a known part of the renewal process and does not mean that your renewal has failed. You can safely ignore this email and continue with the next step.
- Click Revoke and continue.
- Complete the renewal by clicking Next and then Confirm.
- Click Generate and then Save certificate.
- Select the PFX format, choose a password, and click Save.
- The certificate will now be downloaded to your Downloads folder.
Important
After downloading, the new certificate is not automatically installed on your computer. Follow the steps in Install the certificate on your computer below.
Install the certificate on your computer
- Open the downloaded PFX file to start the installation.
- Select Current User.
- Click Next twice.
- Enter the password you created when downloading the certificate.
- Continue clicking Next until you see the message The import was successful.
Warning
Store the PFX file and its password securely.
You may need them in the future if you want to reinstall the certificate or use it on another computer.
Common issues
I cannot continue after clicking 'Revoke and continue'
You may need to click Revoke and continue multiple times before the process continues.
