If you have been filling out the Digidentity registration web page on a computer or laptop, you will need to scan a QR code to start uploading your document with the app. This is a type of black and white square barcode found on the Digidentity web page (not on the document itself).
Finding the QR code
If you are no longer on the Digidentity registration page, please go to the following page on your computer https://www.signin.service.gov.uk/paused/digidentity, select the GOV.UK service you require and provide your Digidentity login details.
Once logged in, you should now see the 'Prove your identity' page where your QR code will be shown. If you can not see the QR code on this page, please refer to the following article:
Starting your upload
Once you have the QR code on your computer screen, follow the steps below:
- Open the Digidentity app on your mobile device and select the 'SCAN QR CODE' option. A camera interface will then open on your device.
- Aim the camera towards the QR code shown on your computer screen. The app should automatically recognise the code and then ask you to choose the document you would like to upload.
- Follow the steps shown on the app to continue taking photos of your document and yourself.
After you have successfully uploaded your photos, please return to the registration web page on your computer and wait for the photos to be checked (this can sometimes take a short while).
If this is the last part of your verification process, you should be informed that Digidentity has successfully verified your identity once the document is accepted. You will also receive an automatic email confirmation that your verification has been completed with steps you can follow to log in to GOV.UK services.
In the case that your document cannot be verified, we advise you to repeat the steps above to retry the upload. Should verification continue to be unsuccessful, or if you have any other issues, please contact our service desk.
