If you have been filling out the Digidentity registration web page on the same smartphone/tablet where you have the Digidentity app installed, you will need to use the 'Open app' button on our web page to set up your two-factor authentication with the app. You will not need to scan a QR code in this case.
Finding the 'Open app' button
If you are no longer on the Digidentity registration page, please go to the following link on the device where you have the app installed: https://www.signin.service.gov.uk/paused/digidentity, select the GOV.UK service you require, and provide your Digidentity login details.
- If you have already chosen to use the Digidentity app for your two-factor authentication, you will now see the 'Open app' button on your screen.
- If you are asked to confirm your mobile phone number, select the 'I am unable to confirm my phone number' link and choose to use the Authenticator App. You will now see the 'Open app' button on the next page.
Setting up your two-factor authentication
Once you have found the 'Open app' button, follow the steps below:
- Tap the 'Open app' button. The app will then open and start generating a six-digit code. This code will refresh every 30 seconds.
- Enter the code from the app onto the Digidentity web page in your internet browser, then click ‘Next’. You will need to enter the code to the internet browser quickly as each code is only valid for 30 seconds.
You will now be taken to the next stage in your verification.
