If you find that you are unable to use GOV.UK Verify to apply for a DBS check, it is still possible for you to apply using an alternative method.
Verify in person at a Post Office branch
It is possible to verify in person for your DBS check by visiting a local Post Office branch. Before you visit, there are few things you will need to do:
- Check which Post Office branches near you offer the DBS Validation service using the link below:
https://www.postoffice.co.uk/identity/dbs-checks#bf-full-width - Fill out the following online form on the GOV.UK web page:
https://www.apply-basic-criminal-record-check.service.gov.uk/post-office/po-intro - Once you have filled out the form, you will receive a copy by email. You will need to bring this with you to the Post Office branch along with the documents you selected.
Only after you have taken the form and your documents into the Post Office branch will the DBS start processing your application. You'll have 14 days to do this before the application expires.
