During your verification with Digidentity you may be asked if you have a UK debit or credit card in your name. When you provide the details of your card, it can be used towards the total amount of documents required to access the GOV.UK service you need.
Card details we ask for
To verify a debit or credit card, we process a transaction of £0.00 to check the card's validity. To process this transaction, we ask for the following details:
- The sixteen-digit card number
- The CVV code
- The expiry month and year
- The cardholder's name (as printed on the card itself)
- The billing address of the card
Once the £0.00 transaction is processed, your CVV code will not be saved in our system, nor will our support staff be able to see the sixteen-digit card number you have provided. Only the last few digits remain so that we can reference the card when giving support.
If you are able to verify a financial card, it increases the chance of successfully completing your registration. For more information on our document requirements, please see: What documents will I need to prove my identity?
If you would like to continue with adding your financial card and are no longer on our registration web page, please see the following article for steps to log back in: How do I get back to the registration web page?
Continuing without providing financial card details
We understand that you might feel worried about entering your financial details using an online form.
If you would like to continue with your GOV.UK verification without adding a debit or credit card, it may still be possible for you to complete your verification by providing a different combination of documents.
To check if you can proceed without adding a financial card, please scroll to the bottom of the financial details page and select the ‘Back’ link. You will then be asked whether you have a UK debit/credit card in your name. If you answer 'NO, I DON'T' to having a credit/debit card, our system will then ask you about other documents.
If you are no longer on our registration web page, please see the following article for steps to log back in: How do I get back to the registration web page?
Unable to continue?
If you have chosen not to enter your financial card details and are unable to proceed with a different combination of documents, please see the article below for more information:
