As part of your GOV.UK Verify registration, we use UK credit history to confirm that the names and addresses you have provided on your account match, and that we can generate information proving who you are.
If you state that you moved to your current address within the past year, you will be asked to provide the details of your previous address(es). To continue with your verification, we will require at least twelve months of address history from you. This is because you might still have personal credit history attached to your previous address which will help us confirm your identity.
While our system confirms your identity in this stage using UK credit history, it is also possible to add a previous address from outside of the UK. We recommend including as much of your UK address history as possible however so that we can gather enough information to verify your details.
Even if our system has not automatically asked for your previous address details, if you are aware that some of your financial details are still registered in a previous address, we recommend that you add the address(es) to your account. To add an address, please click here to visit your address details page and select 'Add a new address'.
