Why do I need to create an account?

GOV.UK Verify is a new way of proving who you are in order to access certain GOV.UK services online, such as HMRC tax services and DVLA to check your licence information.

During the process of verifying your identity, you will be asked to create a set of login details, provide personal details and verify certain evidences, such as passport and financial details. This is to reach the level of assurance required, so that we can be sure that you are who you say you are.

Once you have successfully completed the verification process, you will be able to use your Digidentity account to access any service associated with GOV.UK Verify.
